Sour cream apple pie. It sounds different doesn't it. It sure is tasty. Give it a try!
First, prepare the filling.
Pie Filling Ingredients
- 2 tbsp. flour
- 1/8 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. cinnamon
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 2 cups peeled and diced apples
- 1-9 inch unbaked pie shell
Add sour cream, vanilla, egg and ΒΌ tsp. cinnamon to dry pie filling ingredients. Beat until batter is smooth. Stir in apples. Pour it into the unbaked pie shell. Bake at 400 degrees for 15 minutes. Lower temperature to 350 degrees and continue to bake for 30 minutes. Next comes the topping
Topping Ingredients
- 1/3 cup firmly packed brown sugar
- 1/3 cup flour
- 1/4 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/4 cup butter or margarine
- 1/3 cup sliced candied cherries (optional)
- 1/3 cup chopped pecans (optional)
Cut margarine into dry ingredients. Add cherries and nuts, if desired. Sprinkle evenly over the pie and brown for 10 minutes at 400 degrees.
