Mix together cocoa and sugar. Add margarine and milk. Boil 1 minute. Remove from heat. Add peanut butter, vanilla and oats. Stir. Drop by spoonfuls onto waxed paper.
Walnut Cookies
- 3 cups brown sugar, firmly packed
- 1 cup water
- 1 tsp. vinegar
- 2 egg whites
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 tsp. black walnut flavoring
- 1 3/4 cups chopped black walnuts
Mix sugar, water and vinegar together in a saucepan. Cook over medium heat, without stirring, to 265 degrees or until a little dropped in cold water forms a hard ball. While mixture is cooking, beat egg whites in a 3-quart bowl until they hold peaks.
When hot mixture reaches hard ball stage, remove from heat. Pour slowly over egg whites, beating constantly. Add flavorings and black walnuts. Continue beating until creamy and stiff. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto a greased cookie sheet or waxed paper.
