Frosting Recipes
Say hello to our frosting recipes section. Americans tend to use the word frosting. Other countries tend to use the word icing so we will also call this section unofficially icing recipes. We will be using both words in our recipes.
Frosting is used to cover cakes, cookies and other sweet delights. Frosting is a sweet mixture, cooked or uncooked, for filing or coating cakes, cookies, etc. Frosting can be cooked as in "fluffy boiled icing" or not cooked as in a "buttercream". It can be thin or thick, but must be thick enough to hold on to the cake or item that is being frosted. But, it must be thin enough to easily spread.
Here are some quick facts about frosting:
- To help your chocolate frosting have a better consistency, add one teaspoon of butter to the chocolate when melting it.
- To make your cake frosting smooth, frequently dip your knife in cold water while applying it to your cake.
- If you do not want your frosting to run over the top of the cake, try sprinkling a little amount of cornstarch or flour on the top of the cake before you frost.
