Date Pudding and Date Nut Pudding

Here is another oldie by goodie date pudding recipe! Are you ready to start? Well, here we go!

First, mix the following ingredients.

  • 3 cups brown sugar
  • 4 1/2 cups water
Bring to a boil and boil rapidly for 10 minutes. Grease a 14x17 inch pan with margarine. Pour above mixture in the pan.

Mix separately:

  • 1 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 1/2 cup milk
  • 4 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 3/4 cup nuts
  • 1 1/2 cup shortening
  • 3 cups flour
  • 3/4 cup dates
Drop by spoonfuls into the “syrup” mixture. Bake about 40 to 45 minutes at 375 degrees. Let cool completely. Serve with whipped cream, alternating layers of pudding and whipped cream or cool whip. The amount of dates and nuts may be doubled.








Also try this Date Nut Pudding.
  • 1 package dates – cut up
  • 1 cup bread crumbs
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup chopped nuts
  • 6 eggs – well beaten
  • 1/3 cup sifted flour
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 2 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 cup milk
Mix all ingredients well and bake in greased heated muffin tins. Bake at 350 degrees until done. Serve each topped with Cool Whip or whipped cream and a cherry. It freezes well. Makes 18.
