Leftover Halloween Candy?
Halloween has always been one of my favorite holidays! I love the costumes, decorations and especially the Halloween candy! When our children we small, we went all out. One year when our sons were teenagers, we were given an old reproduction of a civil war costume, which included a plumed hat and a real sword. We stuffed the uniform and on it placed a creepy mask. Our sons built a box, painted it and lined it with orange and black satin. We ended up with a frightening coffin! We propped the coffin up at a 45-degree angle in front of the door with cobwebs all around. It was the first thing children saw when we opened the front door to give out candy on Halloween. Here is a picture although it is not very good. The living room was also decorated like a haunted house. Sofas were covered with white sheets, tables dusted with baby powder, dead flowers on the tables and cobwebs put in the appropriate places. We even had a tarnished punch bowl set and candelabras on the buffet, which were donated by my mother-in-law. Oh, and I can’t forget the Halloween music! It was chilling! That year, we were the talk of the neighborhood. The trick-or-treaters loved it! Okay, I’m now finished going down memory lane!
